Kilimanjaro-Marangu Route

Marangu route is the shortest and most direct route to Uhuru peak, it is nicknamed coca-cola route because some of the trekkers think it is easy one but do not be deceived by this during your preparation, it can get difficult with this route especially on the Summit day.

Marangu route is the only route where you get the luxury of sleeping in the mountain huts instead of camping tents,it has tape running water and comfortable toilets too

Itinerary Day By Day

Arrive in Arusha/Moshi
After your arrival in Arusha airport or Kilimanjaro international airport, we will meet you and transfer you to the hotel (BB) for the overnight. At the hotel, you will meet your guide for briefing about the trek and will checklist your mountain gears too
Day 1: Leave the hotel and head to Marangu gate then hike to Mandara hut
On this First day after the breakfast you will be driven to Marangu gate which is the starting point of your trek your guide will work on the registration process while you get to observe the activities taking place around the park gate. Afterwards, you will start your hike passing through the montane forest where you will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and some small animals and birds. You will proceed with the Hiking in time to reach Mandara huts for dinner and Overnight.

Day 2: Leave Mandara Hut to Horombo Huts
On this day after Breakfast you will resume your hike and head to Horombo hut, you will leave the rain forest and enter the open moorland zone where you can get to see the amazing Kibo Peak. You will see the giant lobelias and groundsel plants found only on Kilimanjaro. Walk at your own pace, Polepole By evening you will have reached Horombo for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Leave Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
On This day after breakfast you will proceed to Kibo Hut, passing through the saddle points in an alpine desert zone between the peak of Mawenzi and Kibo. You will reach Kibo in time for dinner, have your rest to prepare for the summit climb at midnight.

Day 4: Leave Kibo Hut to Uhuru peak and descend Down to Horombo
You will start your hike in the midnight, you will proceed “polepole to Uhuru Peak”, the rooftop of Africa. Keep your headlamp or flashlight handy, the hike will be done in darkness. You will reach the Uhuru peak in time to catch the sunrise. No pressure you can reach Uhuru after sunrise depending on your speed. This is the most difficult part of your trek, Go slowly and keep your optimistic attitude but do not overdo it, listen to your body and your guide’s instruction carefully.

Day 5: Leave Horombo Hut to Marangu gate to Arusha
You will hike down the familiar path to Mandara where you can have your hot Lunch and Then Proceed down to The Gate where the driver and the vehicle will be waiting to take you back to the hotel

This Day after your morning breakfast, depending on you departure schedule we will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport or departing point
