Kilimanjaro-Lemosho Route

Trekking Kilimanjaro through Lemosho is the most scenic rewarding experience that you can have, trekking through this route only takes few hours of the day leaving you enough time to rest acclimatize and increase your chances to summit. It is less crowded route compared to the popular routes.

Itinerary Day By Day

Arrive in Arusha/Moshi
After your arrival in Arusha airport or Kilimanjaro international airport, we will meet you and transfer you to the hotel (BB) for the overnight. At the hotel, you will meet your guide for briefing about the trek and will checklist your mountain gears too
Day 1: Leave The hotel to Londorosi Gate Then Hike to Mti Mkubwa
After breakfast and final touch preparation you and the crew will be driven to Londorosi gate, your starting point where registration formalities will take place. the 4 wheel drive will give you a boost to Lemosho glades where the on foot hike is to start. You will walk then walk following the forest trail that leads to your first camp, Mti mkubwa where you will have your dinner and Overnight.

Day 2: Leave Mti Mkubwa Camp hike to Shira Camp 1
After the breakfast takes the slow hike towards Sira camp 1, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Shira plateau. The slow movements will give you the time to acclimatize. By the afternoon you will arrive at Shira Camp 2 where you will have your dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Leave Shira Camp 1 Hike to Shira Camp 2
After breakfast you will start your Hike one step at a time which will gradually lead you to the moorland zone, we cross several streams and leave Shira 1 behind and find the Shira Camp 2 for dinner and Overnight. You will arrive at the camp in time for the hot Lunch. Have the rest and then you can hike to Lover tower and back to the camp for the acclimatization sake.

Day 4: Leave Shira Camp 2 hike to Lover Tower and Down Barranco Camp
Leave the Shira 2 camp after an energizing breakfast continues to the eastern rim passing the point leading to Kibo Peak, following the southeast parts towards the lava Towe. Leave the Lava Tower to descend down to Barranco Camp. The day will end below an Elevation of where you began, it is a very important day for acclimatizing.

Day 5: Leave Barranco Camp Hike to Karanga Valley Camp
Leave Barranco to find the Karanga Valley Camp on the way passing the Mweka trail junction, you can see several trekkers descending from Uhuru peak here. Continue hiking through the desert trail until you reach Karanga Valley Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Leave Karanga Valley Camp Hike to Barafu Camp
Leave the Karanga Valley behind and enter Barafu camp, by now you have made the complete south circuit of the trek, you will see Kibo and Uhuru peak from different angles, enjoy the magnificent scenery of Kilimanjaro then dinner and go to sleep early this day to prepare for the coming summit day.

Day 7: Leave Barafu camp Hike to Uhuru Peak and Down to Mweka Camp
Around midnight take the “pole pole” Climb toward Uhuru peak passing through the Rebman and Ratzel Glaciers. Head North West and ascend towards Stella point crate rim. It is the most mentally and physically challenging p [art of the Trek. Keep the positive mind listen to your body and the guide carefully. The Sunrise rays will reward you with the warmth that will help push you to about an hour or two Hike to reach The Great Uhuru Peak (Freedom Peak). Indeed you will feel free here after your investment of time and money. Immediately after you have enjoyed the rooftop of Africa start descending down to Barafu Camp for lunch and afterward go directly down to Mweka Camp for dinner and Overnight

  • Hiking Distance:5km/3miles up and 13km/8miles down
  • Estimated Hiking Time:5-7 hours up and 2-3 hours down
Day 8: Leave Mweka Camp hike down to Mweka Gate
After the breakfast proceeds to descend to Mweka gate, some formalities to be observed then Torch adventures driver will drive you back to the hotel, through Mweka Village, be in Moshi town in about 45 minutes.
